Since the Eisenhower era, cities in the U.S. and across the world have been sharing culture, hopes and dreams. Layalina.tv, created by former Ambassadors Richard Fairbanks and Marc Ginsberg, (Honorary Chairman George H.W. Bush) asked filmmaker Richard Martini to see what the differences and similarities in a Muslim and Christian city might be. At one point Mayor Richard Daley and the Imam of the largest mosque in Africa say the identical things; "Most people don't recognize that our city is a melting pot, tolerant of all world religions." Here is the documentary in two parts, which is available for broadcast from Layalina.TV. In the world where people assume much about each others differences, it's important to be able to see beyond borders, beyond limitations, and into the heart of another culture. Documentary also features interviews with a female member of Parliament and Judge in Morocco, and Imams who live and love their hometown of Chicago. The film speaks to Casablancans who've moved to the Windy City, Chicago, and Chicagoans who've moved to the White City; Casablanca.
